A fairly typically laid out micropub, the beer choice was a bit lean I felt, for this type of venue as described immediately below, I didn't think the Porter was as ordinary as in said description but horses for courses. I did get a whiff of damp but only once having descended the characterful stairs down to the loos in the cellar area.
It is a case of could do better but it gets an extra point for the at times comical pub dog.

Three hand pumps with just two beers on, both 4.6%, one of them a porter and one a fruity pale. Neither being what I would normally choose either for strength or beer style when on a pub research trip, I hesitated as to the keg options (Meantime or Asahi) or one of the dozen or so boxed ciders. As my drinking companions had gone for the porter I wasn't going to follow my instinct and walk out, but in the confusion of the moment I forgot to ask for a half, so ended up drinking a pint of a beer I didn't really fancy in the first place. (Actually, I didn't finish my beer, though it was in good enough condition, but it was pretty ordinary and I was trying to keep to halves for the day.)

The toilet is down a steep staircase with a grab rail on the steepest part. I'm glad I didn't know how unsafe some of the treads looked until coming back up.

Nicely summed up by Quinno, below, as micros go this one is a disappointment as well as a health hazard. The single room bar has a mix of seating styles, but its main sensory stimulus is of the olfactory nature. There is a definite miasma, partly from the underlying damp in the building, which has caused partial collapse of the ceiling, visible even through the fabric butterflies with which they have tried to hide it, and partly from the landlady’s smoke from her robust smoking stance in the front door. Descending the rickety wooden stairs into the cellar brings further joy to the nose, ostensibly from something which recently died there, or maybe from the leaking sewerage system, who knows? It’s the same team that ran Just ales in Wells, and when asked, they told us that Wells had never recovered from Covid, so they moved here. Three ales on – Red Rhapsody from Fine Tuned, which was in sub-optimal condition, Nottingham Brewery Porter and Frome Ales’s Blonde; we couldn’t bring ourselves to try the latter two as it all felt too grubby. I don’t think I want to come back.
